Laboratory of Spectrometry L10

Spectrometry laboratory L10 is structurally integrated into the infrastructure of reactor LVR -15 section 8400 Operation of reactors. Organizationally, the L10 Spectrometry Laboratory is part of the Neutron Physics Department (8630) of the Nuclear Safety section and supports the operation of reactors (8600) of the company Centrum výzkumu Řež s.r.o.

The main activities consist in mass determination, activity measurements and isotopic composition of samples determination in the spectroscopy laboratory L10. List of main measurement activities:

  • Neutron activation detectors (NAD) for surveillance programme and neutron fluence monitoring behind the reactor pressure vessel.
  • NAD used as neutron fluence monitors in LVR-15 irradiation experiments
  • NAD irradiated in epithermal neutron beam and in a thermal beam of HK1 channel.
  • Aqueous samples for monitoring of technological water quality during the operation of the LVR-15 reactor:

- Primary circuit water

- Storage pool A and B,

- Temporary spent fuel pool

- Loop water samples,

- Liquid radioactive waste characterization

  • Reference samples for detector calibration
  • Other sources of gamma radiation
